Lichfield Moot Reports

Check out Jimmy Goddard's excellent Lichfield Moot video report here

Isle of Lewis Moot 13-21 April 2018 - Update 12/10/2017

Thank you for your bookings so far.  The following have paid their deposits: Frances Brann, Martin Morrison, Mark Herbert, Linda Young, Colin Geddes, Dave Shead, Jen Eden, Denis Chapman, Jemma Cooper, Ruth Walsh, Judith Adams, Laurence Main, Glynis and Les Willmore, Jane Norman, Lynne Habermacher, Libby Pell and Janine Fenneil-Ross = 18.

Early bookings (£100 deposit each) are crucial!   Many more have said they will come.  Deposits please!

Our aim is to fill all 26 bunks in Heb Hostel, Stornaway for 8 nights from Friday 13th April 2018.

We need to fill all 29 seats on our coach supplied with its driver by MacLennan Coaches Ltd of Stornaway for 6 days from Saturday 14th April 2018 (not including the Sunday).  Our local guide, Jill Smith, will take one seat.

When we know numbers (the deadline for booking is now 15th November 2017), we’ll be able to advise you of fair costs for this Moot.  The final cost could be £300 each (less, of course, your £100 deposit), to be paid by 1st February 2018.

You will need to make your own travel arrangements to Stornaway and back.  If you wish to take the Caledonian Sleeper train overnight from London Euston on Thursday evening 12th April to reach Inverness on Friday morning 13th April, then PLEASE TELL ME (Laurence) and we can arrange to assemble in London beforehand (British Museum?).  This train also picks up at Crewe.

If there are enough of us, we could hire a coach and driver to take us to sacred sites in the Inverness area (incluing Clava Cairns), then onto Ullapool for the ferry to Stornaway.  Do TELL ME if you would like to do this.

NB.  Be prepared for bad weather delaying the ferry to Stornaway.  I’ve had to stay an unexpected night in Ullapool before now!

Weather permitting, we’ll return on the ferry from Stornaway to Ullapool on Saturday 21st April 2018.  IF we have enough interest (DO TELL ME), we could book our own coach and driver to take us from Ullapool to Inverness and stay overnight in Inverness Student Hostel.  Then we could enjoy a bonus trip on Sunday 22nd April by booking our own coach and driver to take us to see the Hill o’ Many Stones and the major cairns south of Wick, returning to Inverness for the sleeper train to arrive in London Euston (Crewe) on Monday morning 23rd April.  I need to know NOW if you’ll come on this bonus trip so that it can be arranged soon.
